菜園上海餐廳, in Hsinchu's East District, earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand nod in 2025, with a high 4.6 rating and over six thousand reviews.

Signature sides: green beans NT$180, kao-fu (baked gluten) NT$140, braised gluten rolls NT$140, chili stuffed with pork NT$280; the luffa with clams is another regulars' favorite. There's a spiral staircase from the second to third floor, so mind your step; the food takes a bit, but service is well reviewed, with many regulars thanking the staff by name.

Open in two sittings daily, 11am to 2:30pm and 5pm to 9:30pm.
