上海點心 sits on Ziyou Road Section 3 in Taichung's East District, its fresh pork buns, red-bean-paste buns, and sesame buns steamed and sold on the spot, the meat filling firm and juicy under a thin, fluffy skin; there's also wonton, hot-and-sour, and fried-tofu soup, and a bowl of dry noodles or plain noodles rounds out a simple meal. One diner called them “authentic buns,” a longtime customer said “eaten for years, still delicious,” and someone praised “a superb local flavor.”

There's often a long line at the door, the steamers stacked high, showing the volume; the noodle-soup window runs 10:00am–3:00pm, dim sum to 6:00pm, so come early to avoid missing out.
