If you're exploring Huaxi Street Night Market (Snake Alley), Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜) is an absolute must-visit. After my first bite, I completely understood why it has earned a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand recommendation year after year. The restaurant has a lively local atmosphere, with an open kitchen where you can watch the staff continuously preparing fresh braised dishes. Even with the constant flow of customers, everything is well organized and the food comes out surprisingly quickly. I ordered the Braised Pork Rice (Lu Rou Fan), Braised Cabbage, Braised Egg & Tofu, and a bowl of Fish Tofu Soup. The Braised Pork Rice was the star of the meal. The pork was finely diced with just the right balance of lean meat and fat, creating a rich, glossy sauce that coated every grain of rice. It was deeply flavorful without being overly salty or greasy—exactly what a classic Taiwanese Lu Rou Fan should taste like. The Braised Cabbage was incredibly tender and had absorbed all of the delicious braising juices. It provided a perfect contrast to the richness of the pork. The Braised Egg and Tofu were both beautifully infused with the soy-based braising sauce. Every bite was packed with flavor. The Fish Tofu Soup was light, clean, and comforting. It balanced the richness of the braised dishes perfectly and made the meal feel complete. The interior blends modern touches with nostalgic Taiwanese night market décor, celebrating the history of Huaxi Street while keeping the dining experience comfortable and welcoming. Despite the popularity, the service remained efficient and friendly. This is one of those places that proves you don't need expensive ingredients to create unforgettable food. Simple Taiwanese comfort food, cooked with consistency and care, is exactly what makes Wang's Broth so special. If you're visiting Taipei, don't miss this place. It fully deserves its MICHELIN recognition, and it's easily one of the best bowls of braised pork rice I've had in Taiwan. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Taipei.

小王煮瓜 has run a stall for years at the Huaxi Street Night Market (a.k.a. Snake Alley) in Taipei's Wanhua, selected for 500 Bowls three times (a one-bowl nod in 2023, 2024, and 2026) plus a Michelin Bib Gourmand listing in 2025 — a name both tourists and locals queue for around here.

With a 4.1 rating and over fourteen thousand reviews, many international travelers put it on their must-eat lists; some regulars note the flavor leans salty, so if you prefer it light, tell the owner first.

Closed Tuesdays; the other six days it runs 9:30am to 8:40pm.
