What people say
Google 4.5 stars · 832 reviews
務本早點 燒餅油條 sits on Dongshan Road in Taichung's Beitun District, its shao-bing, you-tiao, and soy milk all made to order, the shao-bing slightly thick with a flour aroma, regulars ordering it with scallion and chili alongside a you-tiao. One diner said “the shao-bing and you-tiao are made to order, the shao-bing has a bit of thickness with a flour aroma, and adding scallion and chili with the you-tiao is tasty,” another “first time I've had a shao-bing that doesn't shed its skin, really tasty, and the scallion is a perfect match.”
Regulars have their own lingo — one diner noted “regulars say 'full set' or 'half set,' which I couldn't quite follow, haha” — and weekend crowds are wild, one warning “on weekends be ready for a 30-minute-plus line (bring an umbrella for shade in summer).” Service reviews vary — most find it friendly, but one diner reported “the staff's attitude is really not okay, acting like being pushy is right, constantly questioning customers, and finally telling them to stop fussing.”
Closed Mondays and Sundays; otherwise open daily 5:30am to 10:30am.
