豐仁冰(創始店)

豐仁冰(創始店) sits on Shuangshi Road Section 2 in Taichung's North District, right by Taichung Park, its signature “Fengren ice” a genuine Taichung specialty — plain shaved ice drizzled with house-made sour-plum syrup, piled with creamy red beans, and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, the sour, sweet, and salty melding in the mouth and growing moreish with every bite. Beyond the classic sour-plum flavor there are passion fruit, black tea, and mango versions, plus old-time drinks like ginger tomato, papaya milk, and mixed juice. One diner said “the sour-plum ice is more refined here,” and a foreign diner likened it to “chocolate-coated potato chips” — puzzling at first, addictive as you go.

The shop is named after its founder, Chen Fengren, and the space is air-conditioned and roomier than the branch in the Yizhong shopping area — a good spot to cool off after strolling Taichung Park or Yizhong Street. It stays open until 9:30pm (Sundays only to 5:00pm), a taste many Taichung locals have grown up with.
