樂涼軒 sits on Zhongshan Road in Puli Township, Nantou, its sign marked “Since 1994,” opening only at 6pm, its main draw old-time black tea and fruit-blend drinks with late-night snacks like pan-fried radish cake (white-jade cake), braised dried tofu, and soup noodles. One diner said “the radish (white-jade) cake is tasty, open late for a late-night bite,” another “it has that nostalgic old-time black-tea-shop feel.”

Food is made to order, often a long wait at peak — one diner said “tasty food worth waiting for, sipping a drink slowly and chatting freely with friends, places like this are rare”; but another said “please tell us next time if it'll be a long wait, we waited nearly an hour,” so ask about the wait before sitting.

Closed Wednesdays; otherwise open daily 6:00pm to 12:00am.
