南投梅園餡餅粥 sits on Zhongxue West Road in Nantou City, its shop sign reading “30-year-old shop,” its main draw northern-Chinese pastries — pan-fried pork filled cakes fried golden-crisp with a full, juicy filling, plus steamed dumplings, knife-cut noodles, beef noodles, and scallion pancakes. One diner said “the pork filled cakes are full and firm, tasty — the duck feet are pretty good too,” another “I want to order everything, and everything's tasty.”

There's a good range of sides — kelp, eggplant, bean sprouts, and other small plates to mix and match — the place often full at mealtimes. One diner said “tasty and cheap,” another simply “a must-eat in Nantou.”
