紫壁栽手作食與茶 is tucked in an alley off Dacheng Street in Taichung's Central District, its menu spanning hand-made dumplings, gua-dao fried noodles, chicken-and-egg noodles, and other savories, paired with house-blended black tea, green tea, and winter-melon tea — a rare old-time hybrid eatery in old Taichung. One diner said “the dumplings are far tastier than most noodle shops', the dip quite special, and the milk tea's as good as it used to be,” another naming “the signature dried tofu, gua-dao fried noodles, signature pork-blood cake, and ice-cream black tea — all still delicious.”

Beyond savories there are fried chicken cutlets, fried snacks, and thick-cut toast, with a small black tea, green tea, or winter-melon tea as a set drink; one diner warned “seats are few, so mind that — larger parties share tables, and made-to-order food takes time,” so avoid the peak or call ahead.
