蟲子麵店 sits in Changbin Township, Taitung, a small noodle shop run single-handedly by the owner, its signature shredded-pork noodles, plus made-to-order sides like blanched shrimp, stir-fried wild greens, and clams. A hand-lettered wooden sign reminds customers: “owner working alone, please wait — shredded-pork noodles, slow-cooked, please wait. Menu's on the wall, no rice, write your order on a sticky note, send it to the kitchen,” the ordering flow itself a bit playful. One diner said “tasty — the owner does look grumpy as everyone says, but it's fine, the tasty food is the point.”

Being a one-person operation, service is generally slow — one diner reported “the owner's attitude is terrible, seems like he doesn't want to sell,” another “the food's so-so, on the oily side, don't try if you care a lot about service”; if you don't mind waiting and a laid-back pace, it's a memorable meal.

Closed Mondays and Tuesdays; otherwise open daily lunch 11:00am–1:30 and dinner 5:00–7:30pm.
