大慈天然素食 sits on Dongshan Road in Taichung's Beitun District, a vegetarian eatery built on natural ingredients, its signatures sesame-paste noodles topped with vegetarian minced pork and a wooden-framed herbal hotpot with mian-xian, plus sides like knife-cut noodles, blanched chayote shoots, and cold wood-ear salad. The wall states its commitment plainly: “all noodles are borax-free, preservative-free, and free of bad additives, cooked with energy-charged water and seasoned with natural vegetable powder.”
One diner called it “an affordable, tasty old vegetarian shop,” easy for dine-in or takeaway; but another noted that at takeaway pickup the staff loudly read out the full phone number, feeling privacy could be handled more carefully.
