開元紅燒𩵚魠魚羹, in Tainan's North District, was selected for the “500 Bowls” Taiwanese street-food awards in 2026 and earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand nod in 2025, hailed by regulars as “Tainan's best.”

The signature hong-shao Spanish-mackerel thick soup can be paired with noodles or rice vermicelli, each with its own flavor; the limited wa-gui and fried tofu are even more sought-after, gone if you're late. Few items have listed prices — braised tofu NT$12 and takeaway braised-mince rice NT$30 are among the few recorded.
