東璋土魠魚羹

東璋土魠魚羹 sits on Chongde Road in Tainan's East District, its main draw fresh-fried mackerel thick-soup, the fish sticks coated in a coarse batter and fried crisp-fragrant, drizzled with a thickened broth, also served over noodles or braised-pork rice. One diner said “eaten for 30 years, still just as tasty — add chili powder for even better flavor,” another “the only mackerel thick-soup I eat, an irreplaceable taste.”

Recently some reviews mention service disputes with customers, but many regulars left messages in support — “I came to back you up, please don't be beaten down by malicious reviews, I love eating your noodles” — so reviews swing both ways; the actual experience varies by person.
