周家豆腐捲 is tucked in the alleys of the Guangfu Market in Taipei's Xinyi District, not far from the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, its signature the dry-griddled tofu roll — toasted with no oil at all, so the skin turns golden and crisp while eating light and non-greasy, the filling wrapping cabbage, diced tofu, egg, and glass noodles, savory enough to eat on its own without any dip. The likewise dry-griddled chive box isn't oily in the slightest, alongside pastries like the big scallion cake, scallion pancake, and cabbage-tofu bun, with heartier beef and pork rolls too. One diner said “crisp skin, moist inside, really tasty.”
The shop opens at 6am and sells until 3pm — one diner shared “I always go before 7am to skip the line” — with crowds common at mealtimes. The stall carries a military-dependents'-village air, the staff courteous, and buy ten and you get one same-price item free; there's no dine-in, so most people take it away to eat on the go.
